My brother’s daughter is having her first baby. This co-incides with making my first baby quilt! I had made one hand quilted set of his ‘n hers quilts, but had not done any machine quilting. So I gathered my supplies, found a cute and simple looking pattern online, did my calculations and cut it out.
It pieced together very quickly.
In my usual Costco approach to quilting, there is a duplicate of this quilt for my husband’s cousin, though hers was done with a terry cloth back instead of flannel, to make it beach ready, and another for another family friend with a baby recently born. I still have enough scraps for one quilt top if I buy more white flannel! I see a fourth one in my future if family and friends keep this fertility rate up!
Great! Nice job as usual. God bless her baby. Well, we are in touch here and I apologise for asking just now – what is your name? Do you speak Portuguese? My name’s Claudia and nice to meet you.

Hi Claudia! I’m Barbara. I speak Spanish, so I can read most of your blog. Português é difícil para mim! Thank you so much for your kind comments. It is lovely to find kindred spirits from all over!

Totally makes sense to take care of all your baby quilt needs at one time – at least for the baby girls. Obviously Picasso approves. And it’s thoughtful of you to consider how the quilt will be used in your backing choices.

Well, our family member who got the terry quilt seems to spend half of her life at the beach!

You would be surprised! Making multiples isn’t really twice the amount of work. Sure, it’s the same amount of sewing and piecing, but so much of the work for me, is the measuring and the calculations. Once you’ve done it once, each additional quilt is easier! Thanks for the kind words!

Lovely colour combinations, and I’m with you, most of the work for me is in calculating and cutting! 🙂
